GalaxyZoo
A project which harnesses the power of the internet - and your brain - to classify a million galaxies...the human brain is much better at recognizing patterns than a computer can ever be. [source: website accessed 4 August 07]

Einstein @ Home Team
Einstein@Home is a program that uses your computer's idle time to search for spinning neutron stars (also called pulsars) using data from the LIGO and GEO gravitational wave detectors. Einstein@Home is a World Year of Physics 2005 project supported by the American Physical Society (APS) and by a number of international organizations. [source: website accessed 12 December 07]

SETI Team
(Berkeley University Project)
This is our team for the SETI @ home cooperative analysis project for the search for extra-terrestrial intelligence, running a program that analyzes radio telescope data.

The Pande group works on theory and simulations of how proteins, RNA, and nanoscale synthetic polymers fold.

Rosetta @ Home Team
(Berkeley University Project)
Our goal is to develop methods that accurately predict and design protein structures and complexes, an endeavor that may ultimately help researchers develop cures for human diseases.

Climate Prediction Team
An experiment developed for the BBC by climate scientists, led by Oxford University, using the Met Office climate model, with BOINC software courtesy of the University of California, Berkeley. This is a climate modelling experiment to predict climate changes affected by variables such as air and sea temperature, cloud cover and snowfall.

USS Mawson
Out of Adelaide, Australia, the USS Mawson is a new chapter that holds meetings and welcomes online members as well. When a shuttle, its mentor was the USS Matrix.

Starfleet International (SFI)
We are people of all ages and from all walks of life, who enjoy Sci Fi in all its forms — the major motion pictures, the television series, and the numerous books and magazines. Our Prime Directive is to make new friends, share our interest in Star Trek in an open environment, to serve our community, and most of all: to have fun.

Klingon Assault Group
The KLINGON ASSAULT GROUP is a not-for-profit STAR TREK fan organization. [Among other things] our members go to fan conventions and intimidate other species. We help charities with food and blood drives.

SFI Marines
Fictionally, the SFMC is part of the Ground Forces that are rarely seen in the episodes but are assumed to be a part of the Naval Fleet of the United Federation of Planets.

USS Wessex
Defiant-class correy chapter-in-training based in Region 4. Launched in 2009, many of her crew originally came from USS Matrix and are currently going through the joys of paperwork, training and establishment of a new Starfleet chapter! Her support ship is the USS Matrix.
